547 Quilts So Far for 2021.

Yesterday an organisation we support, Mums Supporting Families in Need,  we're able to call and pick up lots of boxes of donations. There were 116 quilts, many were Queen size, as well as crocheted and fleece blankets,  baby items, knitted garments and some of our teddy bears with their new jumpers.  They were only able to take about half of the boxes and will be back soon to pick up the rest.

With this donation of 116 quilts we have donated 547 quilts so far this year. One of the beautiful quilts was this lovely hexagon top made by Megan Rochester and Norma Aitken from Waverley Patchworkers (Vic) and it's beautifully pieced and has fabrics from the 1950s to the 1970s with a couple from the 80s, and probably scraps from dressmaking.

As well as 2 large tops, there was also a large bag of hexagons and there were 27 hexie flowers pieced with a cream centre so I have pieced another 3 and will applique them to background fabric and make it with 5 x 6 blocks.

It's a nice change to do some hand sewing but I also need to sew and knit some doll clothes and teddy bear jumpers as MSFIN are also planning on running a Toy Drive for Christmas when they catch up with requests for basic items.

Many thanks for your generous support everyone and know that your donations make a real difference to disadvantaged families.

Hugs, Jan Mac
