Let's Wrap Up 2021.

Despite all the Covid lockdowns this year seems to have passed quickly and it's time to finalize the amount of donations that we've achieved with Oz Comfort Quilts.
For 2021 we have donated 753 quilts, 433 Santa Sacks,  79 knitted/crocheted blankets,  205 hand knitted jumpers/cardigans,  260 rescued teddy bears with their custom made knitted jumpers,  20 knitted teddy bears, 75 pairs of hand knitted booties and children's socks, 437 hand knitted beanies, 102 drawstring bags, and  258 soap pouches which adds up to 2,622 items. As well there were cloth tote bags, library bags, sanitary pad pouches, baby burp cloths, soft toys, clothes and so on.
As you can see we've donated lots of items which have helped lots of disadvantaged families,  domestic violence victims  and children in foster care.  Hopefully it also helped lots of you to get through the isolation of lockdown and use up some of your stash.
I want to sincerely thank you for all of your generous donations and support.  We will be continuing with the same projects for the coming year and in the next day or so, I will post an update of donations we accept and the dimensions of quilts,  bags, Santa Sacks  etc.
Stay safe everyone and let's hope that the coming year is a better one for everyone.  Also take a moment to think about how many people in need you have helped through the year. You have made a difference.
Hugs, Jan Mac xx

Merry Christmas.

A very Merry Christmas everyone. I hope you have a peaceful Christmas with family and friends.
I  managed to make the 3 Christmas stockings and after Christmas I plan on making the 2 cot quilts I owe for a great niece and great nephew before I get busy with donation Oz Comfort Quilts for next year.

I've also started knitting Jake a new jumper in his favourite colour of green as he was thrilled with his last one. We're blessed to live so close to our grandchildren and especially happy to be living in Melbourne as Ray has recently been diagnosed with Macular Degeneration and specialist treatment is available nearby.
Oz Comfort Quilts donated 753 quilts this year as well as hundreds of other donations including Santa Sacks,  teddy bears with their new jumpers,  knitted/crocheted blankets,  hand knits,  soft toys, drawstring bags,  soap pouches and so on. I will give a final total after Christmas.
I hope you all enjoy your break and stay safe. Many thanks for your generous support.
Hugs, Jan Mac xx

A Flurry of Finishes Before Delivery.

Blog land is still loading photos out of order but I will press on anyway. I managed to finish a brown jumper each for our grandsons and they were thrilled with them and Jake wants me to teach him how to knit. He's 4 and I made a size 6 but it will most likely be too small before next winter so I plan on starting one for an 8 year old in his favourite colour of green. I also knit 2 dresses for dolls and a baby's jacket.
There was only time to knit for 2 teddy bears, a rabbit and a pink pig, all of which look much better with their little jumpers.
This top was donated by the Somerville Stitchers (Vic) and it's a cute I Spy top for a child.
Cathy Bruton (Vic) donated this pretty cot quilt top.
Mary-anne Goss from SA donated a very large quilt top and I divided it into 2 as it was too large for the organisations we support. The second one is shown below.
This beautiful quilt top was made from orphan blocks and put together by Trinity Patchworkers (Vic).
This was an anonymously donated top from some time ago and it's good to gave it finished and donated.
Vicki Tootell (Vic) donated a lovely Christmas table runner which just needed the binding to be stitched down and it's been donated too to brighten someone's Christmas table.
Many thanks everyone for your generous donations and support and I hope you all enjoy a peaceful Christmas with family and friends.

More Donations Arrive.

More fabulous donations have arrived with Eileen Nash donating 3 lovely Christmas  quilts, and 2 fairy costumes.

Vicki Tootell donated a knitted jumpers and a child's sleeping bag and a large bag of toiletries.

Eileen also donated a large number of new purses and bags for Christmas gifts.
Vicki also donated a large number of Christmas craft gifts she had made, as well as a crocheted blanket.

Eileen also donated 2 knitted blankets.
Vicki also donated a lovely Christmas table runner which just needed binding and I finished it and it's been donated.
Jan Baker donated this lovely bright quilt top.
Annette Pearce and her lovely mother have donated 29 beautifully knitted beanies and a pair of socks.

Norma Aitken and Waverley Patchworkers donated a beautiful hexagon UFO quilt top, a smaller hexagon top in the same colours as well as quite a few extra hexie flowers.  There was also some quilted pieces,  more fabric,  Christmas fabric and some orphan blocks.

The large hexagon top is too big so I will make it smaller and use the removed pieces to make the other UFO top larger. I love working on hexagons so it's a nice change from the sewing machine.  Many thanks everyone for your generous donations and support.

Last Delivery for 2021 and Thanks to Lexie and Suzannah.

These fabulous quilts arrived in the last few days and they have now been delivered to Backpacks 4 Vic Kids and Mums Supporting Families in Need.  Both groups distribute donations through referrals from Case Managers and Social Workers.
Suzannah Richardson (Vic) donated the first 13 fabulous quilts in a variety of colours and sizes. I must apologise as the photos don't always reflect how brand colourful the quilts are in reality,  especially if it's cloudy day.

Lex Collins (Vic) donated the next 6 beautifully made quilts which will be loved by their recipients.

I packed boxes yesterday and we loaded up the sleigh (Jeep) to make our last deliveries for this year before the organisations close for donations.
We delivered 66 quilts,  47 more Santa Sacks, lots of beautifully hand knitted items , Christmas gifts, household linen, clothes, knitted/crocheted blankets,  toiletries,  masks, a stroller, and lots of teddy bears in their little jumpers.

I will post an update of totals delivered soon and would prefer if you hold off posting donations until the end of January as most organisations are closed for donations until they re-open in February.  However, if you're out our way I'm  happy for you to drop off donations and save you another trip.

I will still be quilting tops and knitting as well as making 3 Christmas stocking and a Santa Sack for family, as well as 2 quilts for a great niece and great nephew. I will also give an update for some ideas of what you can work on if you have time.

Many thanks everyone.

Hugs, Jan Mac xx
