Yesterday was another beauitful sunny day and we left London after our 6 nights there and made our way down to Portsmouth. We visited the Maritime Museum and saw the Warrior, built in the 1860s, the Victory, Nelson's ship from 1760, the remnants of the Mary Rose, commisioned by Henry VIII and finally a submarine from the 1940s.
Ray was very excited to do a tour of a submarine and we both really enjoyed seeing so many old ships in suych good condition. We could even see the Isle of Wight as we took a boat ride across Portsmouth Harbour. Today we are off to Bath but Ray is going back to the Maritime Museum to see a couple of things he missed yesteday. More to come if the internet access is good tonight.
hugs, Jan Mac

What memories this brings back, I went to college in Portsmouth and lived on the coast to the east. There was a local saying that if you could see the Isle of Wight it was about to rain, and if you couldn't see it, then it was raining already! Did you get to see the Sealord Tapestry? Thanks for sharing.
BRINGS BACK A LOT MEMORYS TO OUR VISIT TO THE MUSEUM.
