What We're Up to.

We're just concluding a quilt drive for flood-affected Rochester where we sent 450 quilts in larger sizes. Currently we are still needing Santa Sacks (16 x20 inches, or 20 x 24 inches), quilts in the any sizes, drawstring bags (12 x 14 inches), handknits etc.
This week I've put together the first 2 lovely quilts from QAYG blocks donated by Lyz Kershaw (Vic) in lovely shades of blues.
The 3rd QAYG quilt was made from blocks donated by Marie Lee and the Victorian Quilter's Association.
Ros Littlejohn (Vic) donated several beautifully hand pieced quilt tops and I have quilted this cute one in pink.
Pat Gray from ACT donated some lovely quilt tops and this cute one will be donated to Life's Little Treasures. I've also been joining small cot sized crocheted blankets together to make them into larger blankets as they have been very much in demand as our cold weather continues.
Many thanks for your generous donations everyone. Xx

Flood Quilt Drive for Rochester and Palliative Care.

Last week we delivered 20 quilts to the Alfred Hospital's Palliative Care Unit at Sandringham.
This week we sent off another 30 quilts to Rochester this week, ranging in sizes from SB, DB and QS. We also sent 2 lovely QS handknitted blankets.
To date we have donated 450 quilts, mostly SB size or larger, as they are the sizes needed now that many people in Rochester will be spending this winter, and probably next winter, in caravans and they will be feeling the cold.
Kaye Clarke and Lesley Lowe have been very busy distributing the quilts received for Rochester and are ready to draw this quilt drive to a close now. We will stay in touch and provide more quilts if needed in the future. As well as quilts, we've sent knitted/crocheted blankets, shawls, gloves, beanies and scarves which have all been warmly received.
We wish to also thank Norma Aitken and Waverley Patchworkers for collaborating with us for our flood quilt drive to provide comfort to many people who have had their homes flooded in October last year as well as in 2011. Recovery and rebuilding is usually a slow process when so many are affected and the gift of our quilts has provided comfort and warmth as well as reminding them that they haven't been forgotten.
The Project on Channel 10 ran a story on Rochester last Wednesday and interviewed a 90 year old lady who had one of our quilts on her bed in the caravan and it was lovely to hear that she was very happy with the warmth of her quilt.
Many thanks everyone for your very generous support for our Rochester quilt drive. Of course we're still accepting quilts of all sizes as we support many different organisations with our quilts.
Hugs, Jan Mac

Marie Lee and the Victorian Quilter's Association donated the lovely QAYG blocks for the next quilt.

Lyz Kershaw (Vic) donated the beautiful QAYG blocks in various shades of blue and they have some great kid's prints.

I've also been busy joining cot sized crocheted blankets and making them into larger blankets which are always in demand.
Many thanks for your help.
