We had a child-free day on Friday so we visited the Nicholson and Buchan primary schools to deliver quilts to the students, as we'd had to postpone our trip due to the Covid-19 restrictions. It was a slow and long day of travel but the principals were very impressed by the quality, variety and size of the quilts and they will share photos when they hand them out next week.
From Buchan, we drove for an hour and a half to camp the night at McKillops trestle bridge across the Snowy River. It was minus 3 overnight and the camper had ice on the roof but we were warm and slept well.
These fabulous blocks were donated by Jo-anne Starr from Vic and the original quilt had blocks set 8x8 with a central block which is the size of 4 smaller blocks.
Jo-anne's blocks are beautifully made and I decided to change the design to use a setting of 6x6 blocks which will still nake a large quilt and it will be a special gift quilt to treasure.
Jo-anne had already made 29 smaller blocks as well as the centre block so I only needed to make another 3 blocks and I finished them this week so I need to get busy joining them together, ready for quilting.
It was a tiring trip because of all the driving but we did enjoy meeting the staff and our overnight stay. We would have been warmer if we'd slept in the fridge as it was set to 4 degrees, but we slept so all was well. Today I'm catching up on documenting donations, taking photos etc, and now plan on doing some quiet stitching.
I hope you're all enjoying some time to stitch and I am very grateful for all of your very generous donations which will help comfort so many people affected by the devastating bush fires.

Nice change of pace for you to get out and about with deliveries. My goodness it was cold over night for you.
Wonderful get away. At least it was pretty to enjoy the cold.
