Merida and Playa del Carmen

From Palenque we drove to Merida via the pretty little seaside town of Campeche. We enjoyed a delicious seafood lunch and a wander around to see the sights.

After lunch we drove to Merida and we had a rest day the following day so spent the morning wandering around the Central town square,  seeing the markets and pretty buildings.

The weather was hot and humid so we were glad of a rest in the afternoon.
This morning we drove from Merida to Playa del Carmen,  via Chichen Itza. This archaeological site was very interesting and our guide was very informative.  Thankfully it was a slightly cooler day as it was quite busy with tourists.

A local Mayan family provided us with an authentic  Mayan lunch which was very nice.

After lunch we drove for another 3 hours to Playa del Carmen and after one night here we fly back to Mexico City and then make our way home. We've enjoyed our time here but it will be good to get home and get busy with Oz Comfort Quilts again.

Hugs, Jan Mac xx
