It's been a big day of distributing donations today and it's great to know that all of your wonderful creations are on their way to help people in need. Big Group Hug very kindly send a van and we managed to fit everything in today. I didn't count how many boxes and ran out of time to count some items but it was a lot.
We donated: 52 quilts, 37 blankets, 416 drawstring bags, 75 tote bags, 55 pencil cases with pencils, 81 soap pouches, 15 library bags, 45 newborn beanies, 6 sets of beanies and booties for newborns,23 teddy bears with jumpers, 45 beanies, as well as boxes of new clothes, books, baby bibs and wraps, as well as hand knits. We also donated 71 new items of clothing and 53 pencil cases from Uniforms 4 Kids Victoria.
Norma
Aitken very kindly delivered 2 sewing machines which had been donated. We donated them to Mums of The Hills which is based at Belgrave and
offer support to people affected by domestic violence as well as
disadvantaged families. They are planning to start sewing lessons and
use the machines to help young mums make gifts etc, as well as develop
new skills.
I also
visited a new organization called Reaching Out Because We Can, and
delivered 35 items of warm clothing such as warm jackets, vests, jackets
and trousers. They support refugees, disadvantaged families and the
homeless and they were very appreciative of the donations of almost new
clothes. The clothes were items that I had up cycled from obsolete
uniforms donated by Ambulance Victoria and I will be taking some more to
them as soon as I finish sewing over the logos.
Thank you all so much for your ongoing and generous support. There will be lots of happy people when they receive your lovely creations.
Hugs, Jan Mac xx
