A Busy Week.

I've had a lovely week with my birthday celebrations on Friday and lovely time with family but I  didn't get as many quilts finished as I counted and packed 1,500 drawstring bags.  However I  did finish this hexagon quilt which I  made from donated hexagons.  I've been piecing hexagon flowers during my travels and then hand appliquing them to background fabric.

I have more donated hexagons in various sizes and they are easy to take on my travels so I will most likely take them on future trips too.

I've also started knitting myself a cardigan which I'm really enjoying.  I've been knitting since I  was 7 and my lovely Mum was an expert knitter so I always had lots of beautiful handknits. However when the Kosovo refugees came to Australia in 1997 I  befriended about 30 of them and donated all of my knitwear to them as they were returning to Kosovo in winter and were unsure of what they were returning to. I've decided that I  need to knit some more for me, as well as handknits to donate.

This Week's Finishes

I still have lots of squares that I had cut from obsolete uniforms donated by Ambulance Victoria so I made 4 quilts from them this week as well as quilting another donated quilt top.

The pile of quilt tops needing quilting is still high but I decided that I  also needed to spend some time sewing and I  also have some of my UFOs that I  plan on finishing soon. Most of those will be donated as well. I have 3 more tops basted for quilting and will get them done when this heat wave passes.

I'm Finally Back.

I hadn't planned to take such a long break from blogging but had no opportunity to load blog posts for a few weeks and then had trouble loading photos when I  got home but it seems to be sorted now.
I travelled to Southern India for 2 and a half weeks and had a fabulous time again. This time we visited the waterways of Kerala and it was very relaxing.

This photo is not what it seems! The street seller was cooking roasted peanuts and the photo captures the moment he tossed them into the air.

This lovely man was only 56 and he took us on a pedal about ride around the markets.

This trip was with Intrepid and I can highly recommend them. I had been to Southern India 50 years ago and it was very into see how much things had changed and yet India still has retained the culture, colours and chaos that I  enjoy. The food and masala tea was fabulous too and I am planning on returning again at the end of the year or next year.
