This Week's Finishes

Blogger still uploads photos randomly which is tedious but takes too much time to try to change. Two more jumpers knitted for teddy bears this week.
A jacket and jumper knitted for babies.
This lovely top was made by Marian Dines (Vic) and Marian also included the backing.
Ann Lynch made this pretty quilt top in pastel pink.
Another lovely top donated some time ago.
Diane Cutting (ACT) donated this lovely top in batiks and I used the new thin batting.
Another long-term donated quilt top has finally been finished. I also made lots of soap pouches from donated broderie anglais fabric.

Many thanks for your generous donations everyone.

Drawstring Bags and Soap Pouches.

I received a lovely parcel from Marian Dines (Vic) containing 8 drawstring bags and 20 soap pouches, all beautifully sewn and they will be much appreciated by Backpacks 4 Vic Kids for their toiletry  bags.
Marian must have read my mind as I have been making Santa Sacks, drawstring bags and soap pouches too. The bags are usually 12 x 14 inches but I have some sheeting squares which are a bit smaller and they finish at 11 x 12 inches. I don't think the smaller size will be a problem but I will check with Backpacks 4 Vic Kids on Tuesday when we visit again.  As the sheeting is plain I'm stitching a small piece of kid's fabric on the front. They will be handy for toiletry bags,  stationery bags or to hold small toys etc.

The soap pouches can be made from 6.5 inch squares but if I'm cutting fabric for them I cut it 6 x 7 inches to give a bit more width for the soap. They're easy to stitch up at night time as time allows.

More Fabulous Donations Arrive.

Firstly I am happy to say that Oz Comfort Quilts now has 1,001 members which means we are able to provide lots of donations to help others in need.  These 4 huge rolls of lightweight batting were dropped off by Pam Brennan and her husband.  They contacted Marie Lee from the Victorian Quilter's Association to say they had these rolls of batting which would go to landfill 7nless they could find someone who could use them. Marie very kindly gave them my number and they drove down from Numurkah and dropped off the rolls to me, before taking more home with them. Surprisingly I knew Pam, and her sister Olwyn,  from high school days and also through GV Quilters.

Pam N. dropped off 2 large boxes and 2 bags of dental products,  toiletries,  and lots of newand gently used clothes for babies and toddlers.

Nantje Cook (Vic) dropped off a huge amount of fabric in amounts suitable for backings as well as some wadding pieces.
Many thanks everyone for your ongoing support.
