Very Exciting.

I've been working on a few quilts for family and finished this one for a special little girl.
I also knitted her another little jumper.
My excitement though is because I found an old UFO today and also found the patterns and most of the background fabric. I'd made 7 of the 20 blocks of the Civil War Bride quilt by Corliss from Threadbear in Castlemaine.

I originally started this in December 2009 and saw the original quilt in New York in 2010. I've just realised that I haven't worked on any of my own quilts since we moved to Melbourne and I really want to finish this one. I thought I might have started a few more blocks but haven't found them yet so I am going to just buy some more background fabric and get on with the remaining blocks.

I made the big mistake of moving a lot of my sewing things here before we moved everything and it's been hard to find all my treasures. I've also unearthed a few hand piecing UFOs and I plan on getting them finished too.

At the moment I gave another child's quilt to finish for family , an appliqued quilt for hand quilting and the Civil War Bride applique blocks. That's as well as the charity quilts to quilt. I think that will be enough for now until I  get some of these finished.

A Relaxing Retreat.

I've just had a fabulous 3 night retreat with my wonderful quilting friend,  Norma, when she invited me to her holiday home in Ocean Grove.  I've been working on a special quilt for my granddaughter,  Sophie, and it was very rewarding to finish preparing all 12 of the blocks.
I played Visoflix "chicken" and managed to get every block finished thankfully as I only had a small piece leftover. The blocks took a lot of work and I managed to fuse all of them so they're now ready for buttonwhole stitching on the machine.
I've used a Red Boot Quilt pattern but have changed it a bit. I made more mice as I thought they were cute, and I'll add a plain border instead of piecing a checkerboard border.

I'm hoping to fit in the stitching as well as quilting donated tops so this project doesn't stall.
