Big Group Hug Donations.

Last week, as well as the 200 items of clothing, we donated 6 quilts, 17 knitted/crocheted blankets, 25 scarves, 200 beanies for children, 100 beanies for newborns,19 bags, 24 drawstring bags, 29 baby's bibs, 4 pillowcases,18 pair of booties for new born, 4 pair of children's knitted socks, a box of baby items such as wraps, growsuits, singlets, 25 hand knits for children/toddlers, a box of toiletries, 3 face washers, and 45 items of new clothing for children including pyjamas , 20 sets of cutlery, t shirts and tracksuits.

The car was packed full and it was lovely to be able to deliver so many beautifully made items especially as Big Group Hug have requested clothing for their clients.

Thank you all so much for helping us to make a difference in the lives of many children in need. Xx

Arrivals and Finishes.

Robin Walker and the Fishbowler Sewists from Tasmania donated many quilts and quilt tops and the first one shown here is one of their lovely tops that I've finished. 

Diane Cutting from ACT donated several quilt tops and this next lovely quilt  was one of her tops which I've quilted.

Gay Thomas (Vic) donated the next 5 fabulous quilts which will soon be on their way to Rochester as part of our flood quilt drive. 

We've received some lovely feedback from Rochester residents who really appreciate your beautiful quilts that they've received.

Uniforms 4 Kids Victoria

Yesterday was a very exciting day for our lovely group,  Uniforms 4 Kids Victoria, as I made our first delivery of 200 items, made from donated obsolete uniforms from Ambulance Victoria, to Big Group Hug. It wasn't our official launch but it was important to deliver the clothing while it was still suitable for the season.  

Big Group Hug are an organisation based in Bundoora,  which supports disadvantaged families and children in need,  and our delivery was timely as they had requested clothing for their clients.   I met Jill on site and she was very impressed with the group's creative skills in upcycling uniforms into new clothing for children in need.

  I delivered 25 dresses, 72 skirts, 58 pair of shorts, 5 pair of long pants, 8 tops, 14 bucket hats, 7 bags, 4 pencil cases, 1 scrunchie and 3 sets of shorts and matching tops.

Our official launch with Ambulance Victoria will occur when we can arrange a suitable time and I have kept back 12 items to display then. We've been operating for 12 months and it's lovely to know that we are keeping lots of good fabric out of landfill by repurposing it.

Arrivals and Finishes.

Lots more donations have arrived this week and I  have been verybusy documenting, photographing, counting and packing items for distribution.  Dymphne Anderson donated a large bag of 12 soft toys.

Lesley Lowe and the Kyabram quilters sent a large amount of donations including bags and boxes of hand knits, baby clothes and wraps etc and I haven't had a chance to completely unpack everything. 

Sue Ross and Andrea Hipworth (Vic) have donated 24 drawstring bags and 4 beautifully knitted baby beanies.

Lesley Lowe has very kindly donated a box of prepared bias bindings in a variety of colours, and I  have already used some.

Joy Walton  (Vic) has donated 3 beautifully knitted baby blankets,  4 knitted beanies,  a new teddy bear and a very generous donation of $100.

Karen Barrett from Qld has sent another large parcel containing 2 lovely quilt tops with backings and bindings, 16 Santa Sacks,  70 soap pouches and a generous donation of $20.

Jennifer Ray donated 2 beautifully knitted baby jackets which just needed to be sewn up and buttons added. 

Lesley Lowe and the Kyabram quilters sent the next 3 lovely I Spy quilt tops which are finished and have been donated.

Kaye Hardman (Vic) made the  next quilt top by using 2 stitchery blocks which had been donated. She made a cute tumbler border and sashing for the blocks and machine appliqued hearts decorated the other 2 blocks.

I finished the quilting on another donated top.

I've also knitted 4 pair of booties in a newborn size.

Finished another SB crocheted blanket for flood affected Rochester. 

Marie Warden donated a large roll of batting which will be put to good use.

Quilts For Rochester.

 We're very lucky to be able to collaborate with Waverley Patchworkers for our flood quilt drive for Rochester and Norma Aitken delivered 73 quilts, 17 blankets, 60 beanies and 5 shawls to Shepparton this week. Lesley Lowe from Kyabram net Norma to courier the donations to Rochester as well as delivering a car load of donations for Oz Comfort Quilts from Lesley and the Kyabram quilters.

   Waverley Patchworkers donated 36 quilts,  14 blankets, and 40 beanies, and the remainder were from Oz Comfort Quilts. 

We had an anonymous donation of 23 quilts from Horsham and Kaye Clarke received the quilts for distribution in Rochester. 

  The Shepparton Sewing Centre also donated 6 more quilts, a cushion and an embroidered towel to Lesley Lowe for delivery to Rochester. 

    It's  wonderful to have so much support from so many people to deliver quilts and warm hugs to communities in need.

Lots Of Donations Arrive.

Eileen Nash is a generous donor and has donated another 3 quilts,  a box of toiletries  and 12 crocheted blankets. 

Kaye Hardman and friends have been busy knitting and donated 10 soft toys with their custom made jumpers,  some new books, 8 knitted beanies,  and 4 pairs of premmie booties.

lex Collins has been very busy and donated 7 fabulous quilts which will be wonderful gifts for our flood affected communities. 

The 2 bright quilts were made from donated UFOs and Lex made them into 2 bright quilts. 

Jill Khong has been very busy and donated another 3 beautiful quilts,  23 Santa Sacks and a beautifully knitted teddy bear.

Donations to Palliative Care and Finishes.

Yesterday we delivered 10 quilts to  Eastern Palliative Care and I also took 10 quilts donated by Waverley Patchworkers.  The quilts were very well received and we have also received a lovely email from a family member of a Palliative care patient to thank us for the quilt we donated.

She wrote " my father received one of your amazing quilts whilst in Palliative care last year. It's  a beautiful quilt and the tag has your name on it. It was a very sad time for us, but having the quilt really made the room feel more homely and much less clinical.  It also kept him warm. We would like to make a cash donation in his memory to Oz Comfort Quilts" .  The family very generously donated $300 which will be put towards costs as we are self funded.  We don't  do this for acknowledgement but it's  always lovely to hear how much our quilts are appreciated and how they bring comfort when people are facing challenges. 

These are more donated tops that I have finished and they're now ready to donate.
