Big Day of Deliveries.

 Yesterday was a busy day of deliveries with 140 quilts being delivered at 5 different locations and 10 were delivered last week.

Firstly to Life's Little Treasures we donated 27 quilts, 25 baby blankets, 29 knitted teddies, 15 knitted premmie jackets, 5 pair of booties, 21 premmie beanies, 30 cuddle hearts and 62 drawstring bags.

Next we delivered 20 quilts to Eastern Palliative Care for their clients. Then back to load the car again.

Then to Backpacks 4 Vic Kids where we delivered 15 quilts, 51 Santa Sacks, soft toys, soap pouches and new clothes.

From there we went to Mums Supporting Families in Need again, now that their warehouse manager is back from maternity leave. We delivered a Jeep full of donations including 27 quilts, 38 blankets, warm jackets, soft toys and hand knitted garments.

Back home again to load up the car and we delivered 51 quilts for the Rochester flood quilt drive to Norma Aitken of Waverley Patchworkers. Norma has very kindly offered to deliver them to Mary Anne Rooney in Bendigo and she is delivering them to a friend in the Kyabram area who will store them until people are able to accept them.

Last week we delivered 10 quilts, 24 blankets and 30 beanies and gloves sets to Big Group Hug.

So far this year we have delivered over 800 quilts as well as blankets, hand knits, Santa Sacks etc and I will give an update of the totals soon.

In the meantime, we still need quilts, Santa Sacks etc. Just make what you enjoy and it will make life a little easier while they are enduring challenging times.

Today's Update.

Maureen Gale recently donated some beautifully hand knitted garments including 3 cardigans/ jumpers and 7 beanies.

Norma Aitken donated some checked fabric and Kaye Hardman made the fabric into drawstring bags . I stitched Christmas blocks onto the red checked bags to make them into Santa Sacks for Backpacks 4 Vic Kids.  

It's wonderful how we can work together to create items that are needed for vulnerable people.  Many thanks everyone for your contributions.

Quilts From the Alexandra Area.

Today's quilt show was brought to you by Pamela Thompson and her lovely friends in the Alexandra area in Victoria. Pamela isn't a quilter but wanted to gather donated quilts to bring comfort to people who've been significantly impacted by the recent floods. She put out a call for quilts and received 35 lovely quilts and asked me to distribute them for her.

Although people won't be able to accept quilts for some time as they won't usually have clean storage,  but it's important to put out the call early so people can make larger quilts. 

Mary Anne Rooney from Bendigo has offered to be a drop off point for quilters in her area and she will help me with delivery. We're also very happy that we're working with Norma Aitken and Waverley Patchworkers to run this quilt drive.

We're starting with distribution in Rochester as they were also devastated by floods in 2011 and hopefully we'll receive enough quilts to also include other areas which have been impacted.

I've spent the weekend sewing on labels, taking photos and packing quilts and I am very grateful for all of your support.

Donations Continue to Arrive.

This week we received another 21 lovely crocheted blankets from Eileen Nash (Vic) and some are shown here.

Kaye Scaletti (Vic) has donated 20 lovely Santa Sacks as well as a beautifully knitted baby blanket. 

Dee McDonald (NSW) has donated 16 cute hand knitted teddies. 

Kathy Lee (Vic) has donated a lovely quilt top and 30 cuddle hearts for premmie babies. 

R. Tidd (Vic) donated 4 beautiful quilts which will soon be giving some warm hugs to people in need.

Ten Finishes This Week.

This pretty blue and yellow top was donated and is a very pretty quilt to donate. 

Diane Cutting from ACT donated many lovely quilt tops and this jungle themed top was one of her's.

Trish Copeland from NSW donated the next 2 lovely quilt tops with backings.

The QAYG quilt was made from blocks donated by Marie Lee and the Victorian Quilter's Association. 

Lyn Betts from Victoria donated the next 3 beautiful quilt tops with backing and bindings. 

Beverley Brooks donated the lovely Santa panel and stitched cute little red buttons on as decoration.  I finished it as a wall hanging and will donate it to the Peter Mac auxiliary shop to raise funds for patient services. 

The last lovely stitchery was a UFO donated by Vikki Hope (dec) and it's now been finished as a wall hanging and will be donated to Peter Mac auxiliary shop as well.
