Bronwen McCoy from Victoria has been very busy during the pandemic lockdown by quilting through her stash. These 8 beautiful quilts are the result and they will comfort so many people in need.

A friend of Bronwen's very kindly donated a box of threads which I will certainly put to good use.

Many Thanks Maia and Wendy.

Maia Butler from NSW is a very generous supporter of Oz Comfort Quilts and has sent another large box of donations, including beautiful hand knitted items. As well as 2 lovely quilts for children, and 2 lovely quilt tops, Maia donated 15 knitted jumpers, 2 baby hats and 4 bassinet blankets.  These lovely items will be so welcome for disadvantaged families who are struggling to provide basic supplies for their children due to the pandemic.

Wendy Evans from Victoria has also sent a very large box of donations. She has been very busy and made 35 QAYG blocks ideal for a male, as well as 2 lovely quilt tops with backing and binding,  and another beautiful 14 tops in a variety of sizes and styles. These will make such beautiful quilts to bring comfort to people in need.

780 Quilts, New Arrivals and Finishes.

To date we have donated 780 quilts as well as 70 blankets to the organisations we support. The bush fire affected communities have received 530 so far, and I still have more of those specifically donated for these areas, as well as the larger donated quilts, on hand for when we can visit those areas after Christmas.  We are still receiving finished quilts as well as tops and blocks to finish so the numbers of quilts continues to grow. It's an incredible number of quilts to donate, especially as we are an online group and I am very grateful that you have entrusted your beautiful quilts , tops and blocks to me to ensure they are finished and donated appropriately on your behalf. I would be doing this anyway but all of your support means that we are able to bring comfort to many more people. If you have donated tops and haven't seen them finished yet, please be patient as I will get them done as time allows and I expect to have more time next year.

I received these 3 beautiful quilt tops from Elizabeth Powell from ACT and they will be quilted soon to make more beautiful quilts to donate and bring comfort.

I've also finished off another of Lesley Lowe's lovely  I Spy quilt tops which will be loved by a child in need.

This lovely quilt top and binding was donated by Amelia Bicknell of Victoria and will bring a warm hug for someone in need.

I also quilted another top for AQA, my quilting group, and I will work on more of these tops for AQA's gift quilt program when we have a break from babysitting over the Christmas break.

More Comings.

Norma Aitken from Waverley Patchworkers has donated the first beautiful quilt shown here and it will be going to one of the people affected by the bushfires where it will bring some comfort.

Karen Doherty from NSW has sent 2 large parcels containing 2 lovely  quilts as well as a UFO quilt  and 6 partial tops which will make more lovely quilts when finished. 

Jo-anne Starr from Victoria donated these 34 lovely QAYG blocks to make another beautiful quilt to donate.

Fiona Lazenby (Vic) has donated another 35 lovely labels which make it a lot easier to document the quilts we donate.

Goings

Last week was very busy with packing over 20 boxes of beautiful quilts, baby play mats, hand knits for babies, and household linen, as well as new books for children. 

Mums Supporting Families in Need are similar to St Kilda Mums and both agencies supply goods as requested by professionals, such as social workers, working directly with those in need. They report a 30 to 40 % demand since the pandemic. They sent a courier and we donated 160 quilts, 15 baby play mats and 8 knitted/crocheted blankets.

I still have quilts on hand, and continue to finish off more donated tops and blocks so the numbers of quilts to donate will continue to grow.

Comings

Anne Sushame from the Bellarine Coast drove across on Friday to deliver 11 of her quilts and one from Margaret Drayton. They are all such beautiful quilts that they are sure to bring a hug of hope for the bush fire areas when we can finally distribute them again. I don't anticipate that we will have time until January as we are full time baby sitters until after Christmas.

There are more areas affected by bush fires to visit but several have declined quilts as they have no storage so we will see which areas are receptive to a visit in January. Many thanks for the beautiful quilts Anne and Margaret.
