More Fabulous Donations.

Jenni Omand from Victoria has been very busy using up her stash during lockdown and she donated an incredible 20 fabulous quilts. The pandemic has lead to an increase in domestic violence,  financial hardship and homelessness,  and organisations which support people in need are seeking assistance to provide basic necessities such as bedding, food and clothing. The demand for their services has increased by 30 to 40 % recently and I have spent the last two days sorting and packing quilts,  blankets , baby play mats etc. I still have many quilts in store for the bushfire areas but I am not able to visit those areas attending moment.

Gill Wright from NSW has very kindly sent another parcel and this one contained a huge quilt, backing and binding, and it will make a fabulous gift quilt when finished. I'm also busy making more baby play mats as requested by 2 different groups and the QAYG  blocks are ideal as they are well padded and the variety of fabrics will give the babies plenty to focus on. Many thanks for sending so many varied QAYG blocks as well as other donations to help those in need.

QAYG Quilts Never Disappoint Me.

Marie Lee donated 2 huge bags of QAYG blocks from Vic Quilters Association and these 2 lovely quilts were made from these blocks.  They vary in size and are mainly 8, 8.5 or 9 inches in size but there are plenty in each size so it's easy to get enough for a quilt.

I'm not sure how many quilts I have made from them so far but I have finished with one bag and have half of the second one left.

I work on these whenever I have a small amount of time and hope to finish the bag off soon. I spent most of today packing 130 quilts and getting ready for delivery to another organisation which helps people who have been affected by domestic violence. The need is greater than ever due to the effects of the pandemic and all organisations are experiencing difficulties in supplying their basic needs.

Many thanks for your generous support everyone.

Fabulous Finishes.

We had a couple of child-free days this week so I managed to get more quilts finished and also bound 2 that Sharon Siacci of Beyond Meander Quilting very kindly quilted for Oz Comfort Quilts. The photos loaded a bit out of order as I have a new tablet and it operates a bit differently to the previous one.
This first beautiful quilt was a joint effort with Jo Botherway (dec) making the braid segments, I joined them and finished the top, and Sharon very kindly expertly quilted it. Jo was a long time reader of my blog and bequeathed her UFOs to me as well as some of her stash. I promised to finish and donate the UFOs for her and this lovely quilt will be gifted to a patient at Peter Mac.

This lovely quilt was made from QAYG blocks donated by Marie Lee and the Vic Quilters Association.
Marie Ward from NSW donated these lovely QAYG blocks and they've become a lovely cuddly quilt.
This bright top and backing were donated by the Sunnybank Quilters from Qld and it's a lovely  quilt with some chenille panels.
This lovely quilt top was made by a member of my quilting group, AQA, and it's a lovely quilt for a male client of Peter Mac.
This cute child's quilt top was also made by a member of AQA and I quilted it for our Gift Quilt Program.
This last fabulous top was pieced by Anne-Marie Ward from Western Australia and it was beautifully quilted by Sharon Siacci of Beyond Meander Quilting.
There will be more quilts to share tomorrow as I picked up a large donation of finished quilts today.
Thanks everyone for your generous donations.
Hugs, Jan Mac

More Quilts Donated.

We delivered another 90 quilts to 3 organizations we support. Thirty quilts went to each of Vic Foster Kids, Peter Mac Cancer Centre and Anglicare. It's been a difficult year for everyone with the Covid restrictions preventing most organizations supporting their clients as normal,  and there has also been a huge increase in demand for their services.

I'm also in contact with another organization which is desperately short of basic necessities for women and kids displaced by domestic violence. We're hopeful that we will also be able to assist them with some quilrs, pillowcases, new clothing etc.

I have also made 2 baby play mats from some donated QAYG blocks,  as they have been requested by a few organizations.
I've also been busy knitting more baby items for disadvantaged young mums and their children. It seems like there are so many people in need due domestic violence,  financial hardship and homelessness and this has been increased by the pandemic.

To date, we've distributed 620 quilts and 60 blankets, and I am busy getting more tops quilted as quickly as possible to meet the needs of these communities experiencing hard times.

Many thanks for your generous support everyone.

Many Thanks For More Donations.

Sharon Siacci of Beyond Meander Quilting has very kindly donated the first 3 fabulous quilts as well as quilting 7 of the larger donated tops.  Sharon is a professional longarm quilter and I can highly recommend her work as her quilting always beautifully enhances the tops.

Patty McNamara (Vic) dropped off 4 more quilt tops from herself, Wilma Checkley and Fiona Lazenby from Victoria. Wilma made the first quilt top and Patty and Fiona made the next 3, and 3 of them were made from donated fabric ahd UFOs.
The lovely teacup top was made from some panels that Patty found in her stash and all of these will nake more beautiful quilts to donate.
It's been a busy week with family but I did get some more finishes which I will share tomorrow. Many thanks for your generous support everyone.

A Productive Week.

It's good to have the daylight lasting a bit longer now with daylight saving and a bit kire time for quilting. I managed to get 6 donated tops quilted as well as more knitting accomplished. The first beautiful child's quilt top has very cute doggies fabric and was made by Clare Jamieson from WA.
This lovely set of QAYG blocks was donated by Bernice Park from Tasmania and they make another lovely quilt to comfort someone .
Lesley Lowe from Victoria has been very busy and donated the 3 beautiful I Spy tops for children and the fabrics are very cute and will be loved.

Heidi McKinley from Vic has donated the lovely top in purples and it is another lovely quilt for a young child.
I might not have as much time for quilting this week due to family commitments but I have bought a new and brighter light so I can sew more at night.
