This Week's Finishes.

Lesley Lowe from Victoria has been very busy making some lovely I Spy tops and they will make lovely quilts for kids so I am trying to get them quilted quickly.

This lovely bright quilt was made from a set of Cathedral Window blocks donated by Del Soden from NSW,  they were made into a top by one of the AQA night ladies, and I quilted and bound it so it was a real team effort and a lovely cheery quilt resulted. The binding was donated by Sandra Orszaczky from ACT and the bright stripes were ideal to natch the top.
The Coleambally Quilters from NSW donated lots of lovely quilts as well as a large box of QAYG blocks and these 2 quilts were made from some of those. The fabric in the blocks was very similar in both quilts but using different colours for the joining strips changes the look of each one.
So the pile of finished quilts is continuing to grow and I hope that travel restrictions will be lifted by the end of the year so we can deliver them to those in need. At least we will have plenty to deliver.
Stay safe everyone.  Hugs, Jan Mac

Many Thanks Delwyn Rickard and a Surprise.

Delwyn Rickard from Victoria has donated this lovely queen sized quilt top as well as binding and it will make a beautiful quilt to donate to someone in need of comfort.

I've been finishing off donated QAYG blocks and found these 2 lovely tops at the bottom of the box of QAYG blocks donated by the lovely ladies of Coleambally,  NSW. A lovely surprise to find and I have finished 2 quilts from some of their donated blocks so I will have some finishes to share tomorrow.

I've also been making backings for donated tops and getting them ready for quilting as Sharon Siacci of Beyond Meander Quilting has very kindly offered to quilt some more for us.

More Donations Arrive.

I feel very blessed and incredibly grateful for the generous support and donations from so many quilters and another parcel has arrived from Mary Anne Rooney (Vic), containing 5 beautiful quilt tops.

The first one shown above was donated by a friend of Susan Iacuone (Vic) and it's been basted to backing and batting, just needing to have the applique pieces stitched to the top, then quilted and finished.

Mary Anne made 2 of the lovely tops and her lovely Mum and a friend each donated a top too.

It seems like spring is on the way and my standard rose bushes have survived my severe pruning which is a relief. I'm hoping that the more extensive pruning will prevent them bending with the weight of the foliage when being drenched by rain and still give us plenty of blooms.

More Generous Donors.

The postman has been busy again and parcels arrive in the evening and weekend now so they must be very busy. Due to Covid restrictions a lot of Melbourne mail is sorted interstate at the moment. I posted a parcel to Qld last week and one to our DD who lives 5.5km away. The Qld one arrived in 3 days and the Melbourne one went to Adelaide for sorting and returned to the next suburb over in 7 days. Strange times but at least we're adapting and our DD loved the 24 year old UFO I finished which was a quilt she made when she was 12.

Jean Ramm from Vic has very generously donated  beautiful batik top and binding and it will make a very pretty quilt to treasure.

Jo Butterfield from Vic has very generously been knitting as well as making the QAYG blocks and she sent 2 lovely warm beanies for people in need.
Sandra Orszaczky from ACT has very generously donated another large parcel containing 2 lovely quilt tops as well as backing and other fabric.
Sandea also sent a large bag of prepared bindings which will save me lots of time.
Sandra's friend also very generously donated this beautifully knitted and warm blanket which will be very welcome.
Now that child care centres are open again we have our precious grandsons here again and it's such a joy to be able to play and cuddle them again. They were missing us too and their parents are appreciating being able to focus on work which doesn't include child care too.

Having such a long break from child care days has been hard but at least I had more time to finish donation quilts. I've been busy finishing quilts made from donated QAYG blocks and will have more to share soon.

Many Thanks Laurel B. and QAYG Finishes.

Laurel Box from Vic has very generously donated a beautiful large quilt top with batting and backing as well and it will be treasured by its recipient.
Wendy Carter (Vic) donated 5 sets of QAYG blocks and I love the stain glass effect of dark sashing against the bright blocks.  I still have one more set of Wendy's blocks to put together and they make beautiful quilts.
This set of smaller QAYG blocks were donated by Marie Lee and the Vic Quilters Association and they make another lovely quilt to donate.
This third quilt was made from blocks donated by Michelle of Victoria and she donated 200 QAYG blocks which all made very beautiful quilts.

Having donated QAYG blocks on hand is an easy way to get more quilts finished and my DH loves everyone of them. He's seen thousands of quilts and these are always his favourite.

Many thanks for your help everyone.

QAYG Finishes and Another Donation.

i'm on a roll again with finishing off more quilts from donated QAYG blocks and they never disappoint.  DH has literally seen thousands of quilts and the QAYG ones are his favourite. Michelle from Vic donated the lovely blocks for the first 2 quilts and there are some great kid's prints in them.
Marie Lee and the Vic Quilters Association donated the smaller blocks for the third quilt and the maroon strips helps to blend them together nicely.
Marie Warden from NSW has sent another large parcel containing this beautiful collection of large QAYG blocks which will make another lovely quilt to donate.

I have more QAYG quilts in progress now so I should have more to share soon.

Hugs, Jan Mac

Glorious Chaos and Thanks Barbara D.

Childcare centres were allowed to open here yesterday so we were thrilled to have these 2 precious boys spend the say with us after almost 3 months apart. Chaos reigned as they rediscovered their toys and tried to play with everything here. Aidan kept saying Nan Nan and Up, wanting lots of cuddles and Jake played with all his puzzles and wanted me to read all of his favourite books.
It was a lovely sunny spring day and we spent all afternoon in the backyard with Jake playing soccer and in the sand pit. Aidan joined us after his nap and he loved the water activity table and running around on the lawn. We all had a lovely day and they went home very happy after eating mandarins off our tree, and a bit wet but nicely worn out from play. We hope to do it again at the end of the week and get back into our routine again in the next week or so.
I also received a very large parcel again from Barbara Dawson (Vic) who donated 4 lovely quilt tops with fabric for backing and lots of lovely prepared bindings which will save me lots of time.
Thankfully the Covid numbers continue to decline and hopefully we can enjoy a bit more freedom soon.
