Still Catching Up.

 More fabulous donations have arrived and the first beautiful floral quilt was sent by Marie Errington from Qld.

 Jo Butterfield (Vic) sent 35 QAYG blocks in checks and 3 beanies.

 Jo's friend, Pam, sent the 12 lovely blue QAYG blocks.

 Sandy Askill (SA) sent a huge box containing a quilt, 4 tops, 1 top in kit form, several blocks and a QS piece of batting.

 Bronwyn Walkley from Patchworkers and Quilters (Vic) dropped off 2 more quilts.

 Maria Tipping (Vic) also donated 3 lovely I Spy quilts as well as 14 varied QAYG blocks.

Here We Go Again.

 We don't live in a Covid-19 virus hot spot but we're in another 6 weeks of lockdown in Melbourne and I expect it will last longer than 6 weeks. The rainy weather and my decreased mobility has meant that I am still behind with taking photos of the latest donations but I hope to catch up soon.
Pam Knight from GV Quilters donated the first 4 beautiful quilts.

 Barbara van Leest, also from GV Quilters,  donated the next 4 beautiful quilts.

 Wendy Carter made another 2 sets of QAYG blocks and binding  and they will make more beautiful quilts.

 I found this lovely top donated by Wendy Fittler from Tasmania when I was sortinb through boxes donated by the lovely ladies of Tasmania.

M. Goss from South Australia donated 2 beautiful tops and backing.

 We finally had a sunny day yesterday and took the boys to the park for a last chance before we went into lockdown again last night.

Now we're in Stage 3 lockdown again we'll still be caring for our grandsons while their parents work but we can't meet to share a meal so we had our usual weekly dinner last night. Quilt distribution is on hold again so I'm very grateful that we visited Corryong last week. In the meantime I will be busy quilting the donated tops and blocks but my knee is troublesome again so I will be resting it as much as possible. I thought it was improving but I must have been doing too much this week and it's sore again so I'm off to the Osteopath again tomorrow.

Catching Up Again.

 Margaret Williams and Sandra Edwards from Victoria donated 2 quilts and 8 quilts respectively and Margaret also donated a crocheted blanket and 4 tops.

 Wendy Carter made another 2 sets of QAYG blocks and binding and they will make more beautiful quilts to donate.

 I also quilted more donated tops and this lovely butterfly top was made by Diane Cutting from  ACT.

 This quikt was a joint enterprise with Heather Mahncke from Vic embroidering and making most of the top and Patty McNamara very kindly finished the top.  I then quilted it and it's a lovely bright quilt to comfort someone.

Carleen Richardson from Tasmania donated this lovely oriental top and I quilted it so it's now ready for donation. Thank you so much everyone for your donations and support.
     After several days of rest I can now walk with less pain but I am still resting it as much as possible.  I think the 3 days of driving to Corryong probably did the damage but I am grateful that we were able to make the delivery before travel restrictions increased again. More to come soon.

Our Trip To Corryong- 516 Quilts Delivered So Far.

We're home again after a few big days of delivering quilts to the Corryong area. Thanks to all of you for your support we delivered 348 quilts on this trip. Previously we had distributed 85 quilts here and

Anne Jones and her group, Girl's Big Shed, combined with us by donating 59 quilts as well. This means we distributed 492 to the people affected by the devastating bush fires in this part of Victoria as well as the adjoining mountains in NSW. We were very fortunate to be able to connect with Keryn Sheather who is employed by the Vic Bushfire Recovery organization and she now is entrusted with the job of distributing the quilts to her community. Corryong hasn't had any people affected by Covid-19 and we certainly wanted to be very careful to socially isolate so we were unable to be present when the quilts are given out. However, we trust Keryn to do this on our behalf, and hope to receive some photos in the future.

We came home via Shepparton and met up with 

Marjo Reijnen

, a member of Oz Comfort Quilts as well as 4 members of GV Quilters. They all brought more beautiful quilts to donate, while socially distancing in the car park. I've twisted my knee so resting it up at the moment but I will share the photos of their beautiful quilts very soon. Thank you all so much for your generous support. Xx

CURRENT TOTAL OF QUILTS DISTRIBUTED - 516.

Sorry for shouting but I didn't realize it was so many. To date we have donated 492 in the Corryong area, 23 to Buchan primary school and 60 to students at Nicholson primary school and 1 to a man who lost his home in El Dorado. I haven't included the Tocumwal 59 quilts into our numbers yet.

I now will concentrate on parts of East Gippsland which are remote and don't appear to be receiving as much help. I have contacts and information about Wairewa and hope to follow up Sarsfield again now that Corryong is covered. I have written to many organizations, school etc in East Gippsland and haven't received any reply other than from Mallacoota college who declined quilts. I have heard that more quilts have been donated to Mallacoota but I don't know if they ended up in the Op Shops as the first lot did. I also know of 3 couples in Buchan who lost their homes but they don't want quilts for some time until they are settled in new homes.

I'm giving all of this information as I like to be transparent about what is happening with all of your beautiful donations. Could I please ask that you don't send any more donations at the moment as I still have quite a few quilts here, although they are mainly smaller children's sizes, and the Covid-19 restrictions mean we might not be able to deliver quilts again for a little while. In the meantime I will still be busy quilting the donated tops and finishing quilts from the donated QAYG blocks, and getting information about where we will deliver next. By holding off sending quilts for the moment it means we won't be living in a Quilt Factory for months. Lol. If you want to keep making quilts for the next delivery the best size to make is one large enough for a couple rather than a lap sized quilt.

When we take the quilts they are all surprised at the variety and how beautiful they are and that they have been donated, and they all pass on their thanks to you all for your compassion and love. I'm going to rest up for a few days, and see an osteopath tomorrow, so I can get busy quilting once my knee recovers from all the lifting and standing. Many thanks for helping us to help so many people.

Catching Up.

 Another busy week with donations arriving and wet and overcast weather so I am behind with photographing the arrivals. Kaye Scaletti (Vic) donated 6 fabulous quilts as well as 5 beautiful crocheted blankets.

 Cathy Miller from Canada sent a beautiful string pieced top, with the backing as well.

  
 Helen Evans from Vic, donated the next beautiful tumbler quilt.

 Sue Palmer from Vic sent another lovely I Spy quilt.
