UFO Monday.

My motivation to finish more UFOs is continuing and I really want to get this quilt finished for Jake before I finish Aidan's first quilt so this one will be getting my focus this week. Today I made the pieces for the fox and fused it to the background .
I still have more things to add as Jake loves caterpillars,  ants and ladybirds, and I guess that is why this quilt has languished as a UFO as I have to draw most of the animals and insects. One bonus with taking my time is that Jake is more aware of insects etc that I can add to his quilt.
This unfinished top is also going to be another UFO I want to finish. It was donated years ago and it's very pretty but when I was going to quilt it I found that the applique still needed to have the stitching finished to attach it to the quilt.  It shouldn't take too long to finish once I find suitable thread which matches what has been used.
Hopefully I will have more to share soon.

Weekly Catch Up and 19th UFO Finish.

This quilt was made from 2 panels I found in my stash and leftover blocks from another quilt. It's my 19th UFO finish for the year and making lap quiots for Peter Mac is a great way to finish up more UFOs and make them useful.
This top was made by a member of AQA, my quilt group and I have some more tops pin basted and ready to quilt.
I finished another baby jacket for Peter Mac and I've been knitting 2 jackets a week, instead of cross stitching. I know why people knit the same pattern over and over as it makes it quick to knit when you know the pattern so well and I'm not bored witb it yet .
A new quilt was also started for our new grandson, Aidan. I've been really disciplined about working on finishing up UFOs and avoiding starting any new projects but I have to make an exception for baby quilts for family . I have one to make for a niece's new baby too but Aidan's quilt  will be finished first and I have found more UFOs to finish as well which will keep me busy.

UFO Finish - 18th and Catch Up.

This quilt is my 18th UFO finish so far this year and it's great to have it done. I had started working on it a few times before but didn't have any blocks that would suit them to make it a larger quilt so it kept getting put back in the cupboard. Just using the 4 large blocks made an ideal size for a lap quilt and it's been donated for sale in the Peter Mac auxiliary shop.

This little cardigan was finished last night so it was donated today along with the rest of items I've made in the past 2 weeks.

I delivered 6 lap quilts, 1 larger quilt, 2 handmade bags, 2 chemo beanies and 4 knitted baby jackets,  to the Peter Mac auxiliary shop today and hopefully their sale will help raise much needed funds for patient services .
I also repaired this lovely well used quilt and replaced the binding, for a friend, so it will prolong it's life and allow her family to continue  to enjoy it. There was no time for sewing yesterday as we had Jake come over to play for the day, but I'm still getting things finished and more UFOs out of the cupboards so I'm very pleased with my progress this week. Today I also basted and quilted 2 more tops so they will be bound tomorrow and more tops and bags finished to share soon.

UFO Monday - 16th and 17th Finishes.

This should be called UFO week and not just UFO Monday as I have been working on finishing UFOs all week. I started with these 4 blocks last week, adding sashing and 2 of the 4 borders.
This week I finished the top and it's also quilted and ready to be donated to Peter Mac auxillary shop for sale. I have lots of these small sets of blocks which aren't enough for a large quilt and rather than continuing to make extra blocks, I will make them into lap quilts for sale by Peter Mac. The Tilda fabric for the border was donated by a Peter Mac patient with the request that it be used for items to sell in their shop.
This UFO was started 20 to 25 years ago. It was a panel which had very little fabric on top and bottom and too much on the sides. I had started to piece borders for top and bottom by piecing some I had cut from the sides. I didn't have an immediate need for a baby quilt so it was never finished and I found it while looking through a box of odd blocks. It didn't take long to finish and add extra borders and it will be donated for sale too.
I also found a panel piece of fishermen, suitable for a male's quilt and have combined them with some leftover blocks to make a lap quilt which should be finished by next week.
These tea themed blocks were also discovered and will be one of my next UFO finishes.

These 4 larger blocks will also be used for another UFO to be finished soon.
It's great to be clearing out some orphan blocks and bits and pieces as well as making quilts which can raise funds or bring comfort where they are donated. I'm loving getting some of my old UFOs finished too and plan to keep going as well as quilting more donated tops and finishing off donated QAYG blocks, so life is busy but rewarding.

Weekly Catch Up.

This first quilt was a donated top which I finally quilted and it's now ready to be donated to a patient at Peter Mac.
I put together some lap sized quilts to be sold in the Peter Mac auxiliary shop to raise funds for programs for the patients. They are very popular and every one is unique and make great gifts . Having QAYG blocks on hand makes them quick to put together.  Most of the donated blocks will be made into larger quilts for their patients though.

I finished another baby jacket  and it will also be donated to be sold in their auxillary shop .
This cosmetic pouch was made from fabric donated by a patient from Peter Mac and it will be donated to be sold in their auxillary shop at the patient's request.

This week I have also been focusing on finishing more UFOs and I have more finishes to share tomorrow. It's been a productive week which is good.

A Rushed Project.

DD  gave me 2 days notice to make this bear for Aidan's 1 month photos. She received a fox in a similar design for Jake and her friend was going to buy the same for Aidan but the maker was on leave. DD is very big on treating her boys the same and really wanted a similar toy for Aidan's photos to measure his monthly growth and she enlisted my help to make it.
So I had to draft a pattern based on Pinterest and I  had 2 days to make it. She loves it and it resembles Jake's in style so their photos will look similar. Of course now it's made I can see ways to make it easier for next time.
Machine applique makes it fairly quick to get facial features done. The problem I had is that the body is a bit small, making it difficult to machine stitch it and enclose the arms and legs. I ended up having to hand stitch down one side of the body and across the bottom.  I made the deadline so all goid. DD issued me a challenge and she was sure I could make it but the time trial was added pressure .
Back to the quilts now.

UFO Monday.

I still need to add the last two borders but I am making progress with this UFO and plan on finishing it soon. The floral border fabric was donated via Peter Mac and the quilt will be donated for sale in their auxillary shop when it's finished .
It would have been finished today but we have our delightful little Jake spending the day with us. He is such a happy little boy and he just lights up the room, like his Mum. His vocabulary continues to increase daily and he constantly wants to count his cars and everything he finds. He's just turned 22 months of age and loves spending time with us so I was very happy to be feeling well enough to look after him today.
